New Residential Roof Construction – Modified Bitumen

Modified bitumen is a type of asphalt product that can be applied in several ways to the roof in both hot and cold temperatures. Modified bitumen roofs have many advantages over other types of membrane roofing and are often seen as the modern alternative to build up roofing. The process involves the use of two separate polymers, Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) or Atactic Polypropylene (APP), that modify the membrane giving it greater elasticity and temperature flexibility across a much greater range. As fiberglass is used to fortify the entire system, there is much greater strength and puncture-resistance. Modified bitumen roofing is also installed in various layers to increase the protection it offers from temperature fluctuations, wind uplift, and water damage.

New Residential Roof Installation – EPDM

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer) is an extremely durable synthetic roofing membrane used worldwide for low-slope structures. It’s two primary ingredients are ethylene and propylene which are substances derived from oil and natural gas. EPDM roofing is available in two colors, black or white, and comes from the factory in a wide range of widths. It is also available in either 45 or 60 millimeters and can be installed in a couple different ways. Titan Roofing of Texas can install EPDM roofing by mechanically attaching it, adhering it fully, or ballasting it with all the seams sealed with adhesives or specially formulated tape. EPDM roofing is highly resistant to typical weathering such as wind, hail, rain, snow, and temperature fluctuations and offers some protection from the effects of fire.

New Residential Roof Installation – Built-Up Roof Membranes

Titan Roofing of Texas has many years of experience applying Built-Up Roofing Systems (BUR). BURs have been in use in the U.S. for more than 100 years. This roofing system is commonly referred to as “tar and gravel”. BUR systems are usually made up of alternating layers of bitumen and reinforced fabrics.

New Residential Roof Construction – Single-Ply

Single-Ply Roofing systems can be broken into two distinct groups: thermosets and thermoplastics. Thermoset membranes are made up of synthetic rubber polymers, usually EPDM, CSPE, and Neoprene. These membranes are ideal for large roof surface areas because of the manufacturing specifications – they come in large unbroken sheets which allows for large coverage with few seams. Thermoplastic membranes are most commonly single-ply systems made from TPO and PVC and come with a reinforcement layer that proves strength and stability. These roofing membranes are highly resistant to weathering and UV radiation. Yet easy to install, for the most part, you need someone qualified, experienced due to the incompatibility of these membranes with most other single-ply roofing systems. You can rely on Titan Roofing of Texas to ensure everything goes according to plan.
